German Jens Voigt made history today when he broke Sosenka’s nine-year-old record. Voigt rode 51.115 km over the hour in a velodrome in Suisse, beating the previous record by more 1.4 kilometers.
The Trek Factory Rider retired from professional racing in August, but soon announced his attempt at the record.
